Four Places not to Advertise Your MLM Business
Let it be known that a reputable multi level marketing (MLM) business will do very well to advertise itself in a directory that requires payment for the inclusion. Wise network marketers will see this as a promotion expense that is usually paid out of the advertising budget and the more respected and popular the directory, the higher the cost. Yet those serious marketers who are looking to either find a new network marketing opportunity or those in the market for this kind of business for the very first time will be flocking to these information outlets to get the skinny on all things profitable, reputable, and exciting in the business world.
Interestingly, many a network marketer will not look to advertising their business in these directories however, and instead will venture into the murky waters of alternate a methodology, some of which prove to be rather infested with sharks! Four places not to advertise your MLM business seem to find the biggest draws for those who are promoting their businesses and whether it is ignorance or a willful disregard of the futility of their actions is hard to ascertain at times.
First and foremost: do not advertise your MLM business at the Laundromat, grocery store, health food store, or student union bulletin board. This is not where the movers and shakers of the sales world hang out. In addition, business opportunities thus advertised fail to convey a professional air and instead point toward the small home based business entrepreneur desperate for some leads.
The second place comes with a caveat: advertising on the radio is a great idea if, and only if, you have the funds to run the campaign for at least a full week but preferably a month. Many MLM businesses are advertised during one or two spots and then will never be heard from again. This showcases to the industry insider that the network marketer who commissioned the spot only had enough money in the budget for the limited exposure and thus the business either is not doing as well as it should or is a lot smaller than portrayed.
Avoid faith based publications. Even though you will get a lot of foot traffic, it might put you in a precarious situation if your business practices and the religion’s tenets may suddenly find each other at odds. This will potentially lead to a loss of reputation; a black eye in the faith based community, and perhaps even the loss of network marketers you have already recruited.
Last but not least, do not advertise your MLM business on the front of a business card which you got for free from the Internet and which requires you to have that business’ logo and website printed on the back. Not only is this the height of unprofessional conduct, but you are actually advertising someone else’s business – for free! Should this business want to advertise with you, then it should be done via an affiliate marketing relationship that is mutually agreed upon. A professional network marketer will not use her or his sales acumen to work for free for others!
