Ooma VOIP Review – Not Unlimited Calls

By valeri On May 29, 2010 Under 4055

I recently purchased Ooma Telo system for $240.00 dollars. Currently there is a sale for Ooma VOIP system for only $200.00 dollars. By investing on Ooma VOIP, it will save a lot of money comparing to my old home telephone bill. Ooma VOIP offers 5000 minutes outgoing calls per month within the United States, all incoming calls are free. There are no monthly telephone bills. Even though the calls within the United States are not unlimited, but I think for any household 5000 minutes outgoing calls per month should be enough. After the first year of use Ooma will be charging $12.00 dollars yearly to cover regulatory fees. That is still a great deal. I used to pay around $40.00 dollars montlhy on my old Verizon phone bill. I will be saving lots of money on my phone bill.

Ooma VOIP offers call waiting and voice mail with no additional charge. If you would like more calling features you can join Ooma Premier for $10.00 monthly or $120.00 yearly. When you sign up for a year, you get free phone number transfer or free DECT phone. With the purchase of the Ooma VOIP system you get 60 days of free trial of Ooma Premier. I am not planning to join Ooma Premier after my free trial is over. Now I’m waiting for Ooma VOIP to have my old telephone number transfer to Ooma for a one time fee of $40.00. It will take around 6 weeks to have it done.

I am very satisfied with the sound quality of Ooma VOIP systems. It is not as clear as my old land-line phone company, but it is highly acceptable. The Ooma Telo has a sleek and sexy design which makes it looks very gorgeous. Their previous model Ooma Core was more of a bulky design. I have heard many good reviews on Ooma Core before I had purchase Ooma Telo. Since I never used Ooma Core, I have no idea which one is better. I have heard that Ooma Core has better sound quality. They also said with the use of the DECT 6.0 cordless handset it will have a better sound quality. I didn’t use their handset so I have no idea will that be better.

For most people I think this is a great deal. Unless you make a lot of international calls then Ooma VOIP might not be for you. Their international rates are not as low as they said. They do offer international bundle plan for additional of $5.00 dollars monthly. In order to join the international bundle plan you must be a Ooma Premier member. So if you do make a lot of international calls you will be paying for at least $15.00 dollars monthly if you plan to join the international bundle plan. So that about $240.00 dollars for the Ooma VOIP system and at the very least $15.00 dollars monthly. You might be better off using Vonage.

Ooma is very dedicated to their old customers. The yearly $12.00 dollars regulatory fees was just recently announced after they launched the new Ooma VOIP system, Telo. All old existing customer with Ooma Core do not have to pay for the yearly regulatory fees. So from that we can tell Ooma is very dedicated to their customers.

Buy Ooma VOIP now, before they increase their yearly regulatory fees. Read more about Ooma VOIP Review. Read about Ooma Telo VOIP to find out if Ooma is right for you! For people who make a lot of international calls make sure you read the international calls reviews. There was a bad review on regarding international calls.
