Whilst normal etiquette rules do not apply to destination weddings there are accepted practices. Guests accepting an invitation to a destination wedding accept the responsibility to pay their travel and accommodation costs including meals. The exceptions being the reception dinner, normally paid for by the brides parents and, if there is a rehearsal diner, this should still be paid for by the grooms parents.

If the couple are in a position to cover some or all the costs of guests they can of course do so but there is no obligation to do this. We do always recommend that discounts for group travel be investigated and where possible taken advantage of to reduce costs for guests.
