Wedding Favors- Setting An Effective Budget
Buying wedding favors within a budget is very important when planning a wedding. Couples often miscalculate the budget for wedding favors as they underestimate the amount they need to spend on these. A few couples completely forget to allot a budget to wedding favors altogether. This can pose a problem if the couple leaves buying the wedding favors for the last minute, and have invited a large guest party. The last thing you want is to have more guests than favors.
Paying for the wedding food and renting of the catering hall will be some of the more costly expenditures in the wedding budget. Transportation and flowers are other factors that will constitute higher prices in the wedding. But these wont be the only expenses. You also need to carefully consider expense incurred due to purchase of wedding favors. What is important to remember is that you need to buy favors for each guest; so basically, you will have to pay per guest. Therefore, you will actually be multiplying the price of one favor with the number of guests. Therefore, even if you select a $1 favor and you have invited 500 guests, then your expense will quickly escalate to $500 which can be very devastating if you have not intended that kind of budget. You definitely do not want to run up a bill that you cannot pay for before your wedding.
Therefore the first thing you need to consider before setting a strict budget for favors is the total guests who are going to be at your weddings. But you must not confuse the number of guests invited with the number of guests who are going to be present. For instance, if your family is very large and you have a number of relatives who are out of town, you might be obliged to invite them all but there will be a few you can be sure will not turn up. If you are certain a few of the invited will not be turning up at the wedding, then you can make a fair estimate of how many guests you are really expecting. This would be the sensible thing to do as you do not want to have too many favors and nobody to give them too.
Once this has been established, there are different ways in which you can set the budget. On technique is to first set aside a specific total amount for the wedding favors and then dividing this amount by the total number of people who are expected at the wedding. This will give you an estimate on how much you should allot for each favor. Do not forget to include the tax, gift wrapping, shipping and other overhead expenses. Another method is to search for a particular favor that you find appealing and multiply its price with the number of guests expected. This will give you the total sum you need to spend on buying the favors. If this sum falls within your budget, you can choose to purchase this for your guests. If not you can search for something more suitable.
If your wedding reception is going to be large with a lot of guests, there are many ways to get inexpensive favors at affordable prices. One thing you could do is find distributors who have the provision for reduced prices for bulk orders. You will need to directly call these distributors and enquire about the discounts and cost cuts as these distributors would not usually advertise in their pamphlets or websites.
